NMQG Meeting
Business and Announcements
– Ideas for new website being put together by Carson and Denise
• Goal is basic, clean and clear; will also have a blog
• Will contain a gallery of images..please submit to Carson (1000-2000px)
• Will not be listing every members’ name but will have links to blogs and websites of individual members
• Suggestion: Contain a link to national Modern Quilt Guild
– Betsey requested that dues ($50) be brought to our December 3 meeting . Also auto payment on Pay Pal maybe turned off or is turned off.
– Chester Common Table Restaurant
• Quilts have been taken down
• Quilts will be hung in South Hadley Library in January, 2018 • We are looking for additional quilts to hang there
– Amy Friend Workshop
• A very enjoyable workshop with Amy giving us tips, hints and the process that she uses for her quilts
• App “Layout” —-great for tiling and spinning blocks to see what entire quilt will look like
– Chester Retreat—weekend before Memorial Day—-See Jeff
– December Meeting December 3
• Food: Sweet ( last namesA-L) Savory ( last name M-Z) • Pay Dues
• Fat Quarter swap

Todays Program: Facings and Bindings
– Diane explained how she did facings using the method from terryaskartquilts.com
– Carson explained the technique she uses to completely machine sew a binding to a quilt
– Jean showed us how she machine sews a binding to a quilt. She recommended a you tube tutorial “Connecting the ends together” by Sara @ heirlooms creations.
– Denise uses Susie’s Magic Binding
– Susie uses a removable sleeve for her quilts
Show and Tell
– Charlotte collected her Prayer Rugs . She has refined her directions.
– Audrey showed us her tie quilt and mini collage quilts.
• Map Gallery at Eastworks is having a Small Works (8”x8”) show starting Thursday November 9th through the month.
– Jean show us her kaleidoscope q
– Jeff brought in his 365 Day quilt
– Carson had a Finish It Up quilt
– Jenna showed us her mug rug and the start of her Milky Way Sampler
– Susie had the start of her paper pieced Stained Glass Quilt.
